Award-winning Minnesota Backyard Swimming Pool Installation

After ten years, this home's original landscape required an update. When the homeowners moved in, their children were toddlers and preschoolers. Now they are middle and high schoolers. The homeowners decided the backyard should be a destination, a place where family and friends could just hang out.

Their award-winning backyard is designed for fun times with friends and family. With amenities like a dining patio, fire table, and swimming pool, this landscape is ready for summer pool parties and fall evenings around the fire (or enjoying the hot tub).

From slope to patio

Starting with a flat slate

An eight-foot change in elevation from doorway to property line is nothing to sneeze at. In order to build a level area for the patio, pool, and other amenities, it was necessary to install a retaining wall. This wall is 30-36” (which only partially took care of the slope in the back yard) so there are steps on the other side of the pool.

Outdoor lighting fire table garden and pool

The full-size swimming pool uses a salt-water filtration system instead of chlorine, which is great for people with sensitive skin. The pool's mechanical elements are easily accessible but out of the way – tucked behind the trees and boulder wall.

Night lighting adds to the ambience but also helps the family navigate their way around the backyard as day turns into night. Audio speakers dot the plant beds for a surround sound experience.

Indoor-Outdoor Living at its best

Now this yard is the place to be

The lower-level of the home was recently renovated. An outdoor bar and sliding windows connect the outside to the indoor entertainment space. This backyard has become the go-to destination for the homeowners' children and friends.
