Hilltop Landscaping Adds Space

The goal of this backyard landscape design was to increase the amount of usable space. A wandering path in the back yard of irregular stone connects the patio to the fire pit and seating area. A palette of natural stone and falling water captures the magic of the north woods.

This project won a Landscape Design award from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association and was featured in Edina Magazine – July 2008 and in Luxury Homes and Renovation Magazine, Fall 2008.

Landscape Design Elements

In spring and fall, when the days are shorter, but still relatively mild, outdoor lighting makes the landscape more inviting. Black Adirondack chairs and potted annuals add contrast to the dry-stack gas fire pit. Tumbled pavers of the retaining wall create a seamless transition and elevate the front yard water feature.

Don't want a cabin? Create the feel of the northwoods in your back yard with just the right elements! We can show you how.
