Edina MN Landscape Design with Curb Appeal

Tranquil Outdoor Refuge

As anyone with a busy, stressful job will tell you – when they come home, it should be to a relaxing space, preferably outdoors. These Edina homeowners wanted a place to greet neighbors in the front yard, places to entertain in the back, and a spa they could use year-round.

In the front yard, one of Southview's landscape architects designed a welcoming courtyard/front entry. Just large enough for a table, a couple of chairs, a small fountain, and flowers, the courtyard is separated from the street by a low mortared limestone wall. The space hints at privacy but invites the neighbors in for conversation and evening refreshments.

Before – An overgrown back yard

Overgrown and dying, the back yard lacked any entertainment space other than the screened porch and a small patio.

Gas fire pit and patio landscape design

After a complete renovation of the gardens, a gas fire pit patio and seat wall are separated from the screened porch/dining terrace by a lush garden.

Winding path to relaxation

Extending the garden across the winding path to just behind the garage, the existing koi pond was refurbished and a hot tub nestled in nearby but still within view of the fire pit to give the back yard a secret-garden-feel.

A casual bluestone patio with two Adirondack chairs and a small table provides a comfortable spot to sit while the dog burns off some energy in the spacious expanse of lawn at the back of the yard.
