Minnesota Paver Patio

Upstairs, Downstairs

Sloped backyard gets a kid friendly lift

This Burnsville family's back yard has a dramatic slope to the woods. During the winter, it serves as a sledding hill– with plenty of space for the kids to run off some energy during the summer. The outdoor living space was pretty much confined to deck space off the kitchen. The timber wall had deteriorated to the point it was starting to lean. The ground-level family room opened onto a narrow, uneven bed of landscape rock. (Do you know how much that hurts on bare feet?)

Up-Down Before Renovation

Engineering and building a massive boulder wall (10 feet at its highest point), one of our lead designers turned an unsafe play area into a spacious outdoor living area. Now, the family room opens onto a 450 square feet paver patio. Finishing touches include black aluminum railings, easy perennials and, of course, new furniture.
