Backyard patio with a view

Carefree and Relaxing

Wetlands surrounding a lake reached up and nearly took over this home. The homeowners decided to carve out a little space for themselves. The husband and wife both work quite a bit and decided they needed a little help to reclaim their back yard. Taking advantage of the view of wetlands behind them, they opted for no sod…just a space to be.

First order of business, clear the growth enough to build a boulder wall, using Mesabi Red – an angular boulder, to create level spaces for paver patios. A newly-design deck with clear glass panels (just off the kitchen and 3-season porch) provides a spot for peaceful reflection and an unobstructed view of the sunrise and wetland wildlife action.

Paver sidewalk and stone steps provide guests access from the front driveway. Path and outdoor lighting give the homeowners the opportunity to enjoy the cool evenings with a glass of wine.
