(Minneapolis, MN, September 20, 2018) – Southview Design is proud to announce it has been awarded an Award of Excellence – Silver Award by the National Association of Landscape Professionals. The project was designed by Sean Flaherty. "It's nice to be recognized for such a fun and challenging project the clients thoroughly enjoy," he says.
Built in 2006, the home’s original landscape required an update in 2016. When the homeowners moved in, their children were toddlers and preschoolers. Now that their children are in middle/high school and into video games and texting with their friends, the homeowners decided the back yard should be a destination… a place where family and friends could just hang out.
The lower level of the home had been renovated to include sliding windows that open to an outside bar top, gaming couches, and a large flat-screen TV. Now, the outside joins the inside as a complete entertainment space. It has become the destination for the homeowners’ children and their friends.
With less traffic, homes on a cul-de-sac are usually more private than the surrounding neighborhood. The original trees were well-placed and matured to give excellent privacy. Preserving that privacy topped the wish list, along with a 9-foot-deep diving pool with seating at the shallow end and a salt filtration system instead of chlorine, a hot tub for 8 people, a gas fire table, seating areas, a basketball hoop poolside, audio and night lighting.
