Space to Entertain all Year Long

These Mendota Heights homeowners desired a comfortable space that could be enjoyed throughout Minnesota’s (sometimes extreme) seasons. Their initial wish list included two primary requests. One, keep the large tree in the backyard, and two, create an inspiring space that could be enjoyed with family and friends. The final design includes a floating deck, two pergolas, a fire table, a designated grilling area, and new plantings. This backyard is now "decked out," and these homeowners are ready to entertain in style!

Before: Cluttered backyard without defined spaces.

After: Floating deck with covered living and dining spaces.

This backyard went from a dull and awkward space to a thoughtfully designed backyard with a purpose.

Worry-Free Decking

The new Trex deck is both fade and stain resistant, making it a low-maintenance alternative to standard wood decking. The two trellises located on opposite ends of the deck provide a pleasing aesthetic. Additionally, plantings can be grown for added color and privacy.

Rain or Shine Outdoor Living

Operated by a rope and pulley system, the pergola includes a retractable cover that can easily transition from covered to uncovered. On cooler evenings, homeowners can plop onto their comfy furniture and turn on the gas fire pit for extra warmth and comfort. No matter the weather, these homeowners are now ready to get out and enjoy life outdoors!
