Throughout the Twin Cities, Southview Design landscaping customers are enthusiastic about referring us to friends, neighbors, and family.
We're serious about backyard swimming pool design and installations.
As one of the fastest-growing landscape design firms in the country, there are always employment opportunities at Southview Design.
From the initial meeting to the final walk through, our process is design to deliver a positive experience every time.
The homeowners approached Southview with two design requests - a swimming pool and ample space to entertain. Sloped and on a wetland, this Orono backyard presented many challenges. Nevertheless, Southview was dedicated to fulfilling the homeowners' wishlist, while preserving the integrity of wetland. The final design checked all the boxes and more. This inviting backyard is now home to a large swimming pool, fireplace, lower level patio, and plenty of entertaining space.
Before: Large backyard with minimal landscaping
After: A luxury landscape design with space to entertain
From a featureless sloped yard, to an alluring new landscape that fits the home and architecture.
The design is clean and contemporary, with a peaceful and comforting ambiance. Rinn Laziano concrete pavers surround the 20X40 swimming pool, providing plenty of space to relax and catch some rays. Minimal plantings make for a low maintenance design with a modern feel. The vast wetland beyond the fence delivers a beautiful, verdant view.
The pool includes a generously sized “sun deck." This clever addition provides the perfect depth of water to keep your lower half cool while soaking up the warm Minnesota summer sun. We suggest sticking beach chairs in the water for the ultimate sunbathing experience. The sun deck can also double as a “kiddie pool," making it a great place to teach young children how to swim!
The design required a small retaining wall. The Limestone cube boulder wall is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The lower level includes a spacious patio, fireplace and built-in hot tub. The fireplace and seat wall are made from an Indian River blend veneer stone. The stone matches the front exterior of the home, creating a cohesive design. The lower patio is connected to the downstairs family/game room, establishing a nice flow from interior to exterior. Note the small amount of Ipe decking between the tub and pool deck. The space under the Ipe allows for easy access to the hot tub equipment.
The steps have an Indiana Limestone tread with a natural edge. The veneered stone matches the fireplace and front exterior of the home. Built in lights provide necessary lighting for evenings by the fire and showcase the texture of the natural stone.
The sunken patio is an intimate space for friends and family to gather. The three steppers in the lawn were cleverly designed to guide the family dogs to the outer edges of the lawn. From warm summer by the pool, to chilly fall evenings by the fire. From warm summer by the pool to chilly fall evenings by the fire, these Orono homeowners are ready to enjoy Minnesota’s vibrant seasons in style.
