"I love shaping a space to make it comfortable for people. Landscape Architects study the elements that make an outdoor space, like the boundaries, the canopy over your head, the proportions, the heights, and the surfaces. My primary goal is to make a space that just feels 'right.' – Mike Goergen, Landscape Architect

Landscape architecture is a regulated profession. It requires a license that takes years of study and a degree from an accredited program. Before stepping out on their own, an aspiring landscape architect must work under an experienced landscape architect and pass a series of technical exams.

Landscape architects are visionary experts. Using a rigorous process involving meeting with clients, visiting the site, and doing extensive drafting, landscape architects create detailed plans for landscape contractors to implement. At Southview Design, the landscape architects and contractors live under the same roof (so to speak) and work closely together to create unique, build-able designs for our clients.

My favorite part about being a landscape architect is having the ability to work with the natural environment and develop creative solutions for challenging projects. – Justin Dorschied, Landscape Architect

Landscape architects see the big picture. Working on large scale projects requires expertise and knowledge about the interplay between geology, hydrology, local climate effects, watersheds, and permitting.

Landscape architects are experts in sustainability.
